My 1st time through, it was me +15 henchies. I beat it with the Master reward, so go figure.

Next time around, I was helping 2 guildies. The "local" team was 1 guy + 7 henchies the first 3 attempts, and Togo always died before we got there. The 4th time the local group was 5/8 real players who were skilled, and we breezed through it. It's luck of the draw if you get a good team on the other end, which does kinda suck, but you just gotta keep trying.

the first time i found a 'decent' party on the mhenlo side. they were all henchies.
finished the first part with ease, and we got knocked out in the second part because henchmen are retarded and dont know how to rez.

second time i found a good party on the mhenlo side, they arrived with 6 humans, 2 hench.
my team had 7 humans. 1 dc'd.

my team managed to defend togo until they arrived and we finished the rest of the mission nicely.

i didnt know there was a problem with the npc's, but i guess i didnt encounter the problem.

xD You think this is bad programming. Perhaps you haven't been introduced to the nightmare that is Windows XP Service Pack 2. Now there's a programming disaster that WILL screw you over. I'd love to see you whiners try programming, even the basic ones take ages to perfect. Even validation can take up thousands of code strings. Might I suggest you get of your high horses and stop looking down at the programmers. I find some odd glitches and other bits annoying but guess what, instead of bitching about the programmers I send in feedback reports. You know those forms you fill out on the website that actually help them.

Its not a easy mission, but I didn't find it that hard and I used all henchies.
I am a asn and I just use shadow form whenever i get hit hard and use return to the monk when the duration is over.
Master togo and Mhelno's life never even dropped below 75%.
I did died twice because i couldn't use return fast enough after shadow form... but the hencies did a good job at finishing them off.

Ah, so I'm not the only one that happened too. I've tried it twice, first time all henchies (other side also) and didn't know the mission layout, got cought right at the first not defending Togo too well. My fault.

Second time I was all henchies, other side was all people. I was doing good then my henchies decided to leave me and run off. Being an assassin and Togo against 10 or so afflicted, well you can figure out how long that lasted (I'm sure they were wondering why I was calling a target 10 times rapidly in a row - was deperatly trying to get the henchies back while spamming my self heals/trying to break aggro). The other team cussed me pretty well, I never got a chance to explain. I may still have failed if that had not have happened - who knows, but it wasn't my fault for this failure.

Sorta glad to know I'm not the only one. I guess I would rather it be a one off bug, but at least I'm not crazy seeing them do that or know it wasn't some new standard AI change in the henchies I missed (maybe I hit a "run away" key combination accidentally). It definatly needs fixed, my assissin is pretty much stalled at the third freaking mission in the game - especially now that the "running is evil - too many noobs" people got thier way and I can't simply skip the mission until the bug is fixed (well, I could try over and over hopeing not to get the glitch while screwing all the people I get partnered with, nor can I simply fight my way across the map to the next mission). I'm not a terribly skilled player, it's why I play with henchies (no one to make mad), though if the game doesn't glitch I can make the mission even if it takes a few tries (I've henched Thirsty and THK, got bored before trying RoF).

As we have seen from ANet's past services, they're probably doing their best to fix the bugs and improve our gameplay.

I had problems with this bug the first two times as well. I don't think skipping the cinematic made a difference because both skipping and not skipping had the bug going on.
w8 w8 w8 .. it's their job to make sure it's working well BEFORE it is released. But it's easier to release an expansion sooner and let ppl do the playtesting job kinda reduce the amount of ppl u gotta pay for doing it

anyway...its stupid, in the local quarters all you have are rits and assassins...poor thinking on ANet's part imo.
From what I have experienced if the Tyrian team runs their way to Togo instead of fighting Togo and Mhenlo don't move with you. The first time I attemped Vizunah with two very well balanced teams from both sides we failed because one person from the Tyrian team decided to run to Togo. My second attempt at Vizunah we had only 1 warrior with henchies from the Tyrian side and were very successful. So it's not the build that matters, its up to the Tyria side, so ask the other team to fight their way to Togo instead of running that will save you a lot of grief later on.

Then you got to flame the managers, the directors, the supervisors, and especially the beta testers. (Not that I promote flaming at all.)

The beta testers get paid to play the game and report bugs to help the programmers fix the problems. The programmers usually don't have the time to go through every aspect of the game searching for their flaws. So don't take it out on the programmers if you have to take it out on someone.

Sorry, but I'm kind of a [sucky] programmer and I can imagine the frustration of trying to perfect a game and getting disrespected because of 'mistakes'.

Anyways, I'm glad you finished the mission so you can enjoy the rest of the game and maybe run into a few more bugs

The larger problem I see is its the first mission for Tyrian characters and Canthan characters and it seems that when you launch the other team is ALWAYS full of henchies.

Is this the mission where you have to team up with another team and fight Afflicteds?

If so, there is a very easy way to beat it. After failing one or two times, a Ranger decided to bring Edge of Extinction + Barrage. This worked wonders because the enemies were enemies in mobs (perfect for AOE damage) and when one Afflicted died, they all got hit by EOE. During the mission, I noticed +12 XP popping up every few seconds.

And also, Mhenlo got stuck on the STAIRS during our second try. We believed this was caused by the clutter of Minions that our Necro played.

I did this one yesterday, and I didn't even notice that you have to team up with other players <.<.
All I noticed was that at one point MANY henchies appeared and helped me, which I found quite nice !
But I guess it's quite logical, with Home District and Foreign Districts. Just a question - does the area where Cantha players start (where they open groups and invite people you know - the town) look different from the one for foreigners start?

Did it the first try, with a standard poison dmg ranger.

Lovely how people keep replying how easy the mission was for them, and missing the entire point of the post.

The mission is bugged! Sure, I made it through aswell. But from time to time the mission just gets screwed up. Togo gets stuck, or simply does not open the gate, and no matter how close you stay to him, you can't finish the mission. Anet needs to fix this ASAP.

It really depends on the group you are with. You have to remember that Factions is being sold as a standalone game, and so it is safe to assume that there are some people who have never played the Prophecies campaign.

If you are in the Foregin Quarters, don't run past the enemies, and if you got a hench team on the Local side, hope Togo survives, if it's a player team, be sure to remind them to keep Togo alive.

To poster above me... as long as you fight the enemies to the square to Togo, you should be fine.

heh
i'm sure u get my point ... there are bugs and bugs huh
those who can cause exploits / crashes in specific situations .. but those who cause major problems like this one... it affects basic playability of the product itself, there were lotsa rant about this already, my main concern d be more to get why sometimes the glitch show up or not, dont wanna spend 20 tries per char of course ^^

Unfortunately that is not true. If it was true there would not be any problem. But no matter how accurately you clear the road, Togo can still get bugged, and refuse to open the gate. It happens a lot. Consider yourself lucky if you did not run into this bug, because it has a tendency to repeat itself over and over again.
